Your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025 give you these rights over the personal data Careerwood Jobs holds about you. Use them on the Your data page (we first email you a secure link, or you use the tracking code from your application) or by writing to our Grievance Officer below. We answer within 30 days.

  • Access: a summary of the personal data we hold about you, what we do with it, and everyone we have shared it with.
  • Correction, completion and updating of data that is wrong, incomplete or out of date.
  • Erasure of your data once it is no longer needed for the purpose you gave it for, unless a law makes us keep it.
  • Withdrawing your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. We then stop using your data for that purpose and erase it; what was done before you withdrew stays lawful.
  • Nominating another person to use these rights for you if you die or become unable to act.
  • Grievance redressal: a complaint to our Grievance Officer about how we handled your data.
  • If our answer does not resolve your grievance, a complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.

Who receives your data

We never sell your personal data. It goes only to the people and services below, each for the purpose stated. Some of these services store data outside India; such transfers are made as section 16 of the DPDP Act allows, and we will stop any transfer to a country the Government of India restricts.

  • Our recruitment team, who read and handle your application.
  • Our recruitment systems: our applicant tracking system and our CV database, run by the same business as Careerwood Jobs.
  • The employer hiring for the role you apply to: the named employer, or for roles we recruit for directly, the client employer once you are shortlisted. A few employers receive applications straight into their own hiring system; the application form names it when that is the case.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation): turns your position into a city, only when you press "Use my current location" on the application form (United Kingdom).

How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only as long as the purpose you gave it for needs it, then erase it.

  • Your candidate profile, applications and resume: 24 months after your last activity (applying, opening Track My Applications or the Your data page). We email you a week before we erase them, with a link to keep your profile.
  • Job alerts: until you unsubscribe. A sign-up never confirmed is deleted after 90 days, an unsubscribed one after 180 days.
  • Contact messages: 12 months. Messages caught as spam: 30 days.
  • Records of your consents and logs of what was done with your data: at least one year, as the DPDP Rules require, then deleted.

Each form that collects personal data shows a short notice of what it collects, why, who receives it and how long we keep it (Job application · Job alerts · Contact form). Notices are in English; you can ask for them in any language of the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through Careerwood Job Portal or via email.
